RAPID CITY, S.D. (May 26, 2017) – In conjunction with the 2017 Kids’ Carnival, Regional Health will again host the popular Don’t Thump Your Melon Bike Event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Main Street Square in Rapid City.
Free helmets will be available to those who need them. Education on how to properly fit and wear a helmet will be provided. Attendees are encouraged to bring their helmets and bikes. Don’t Thump Your Melon is a helmet safety and head injury prevention education program at Regional Health.
“Brain injury prevention is our main goal. By providing helmets to those in need, we give children the protection they need,” said Trauma Services nurse Amy Morrill, Regional Health Rapid City Hospital. “Knowing we are educating and preventing these injuries throughout our community is the highlight of the Don’t Thump Your Melon program.”
