RAPID CITY, S.D. – As part of National Volunteer Week, many Regional Health Rapid City Hospital volunteers were recently honored during a Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Brunch.
“Each and every volunteer plays an impactful role as part of our team. We could not do what we do without our volunteers,” said Paulette Davidson, President and CEO of Regional Health.
“When you look at the number of hours our volunteers put in, it’s easy to see how important their contributions are to our patients, families and caregivers,” said John Pierce, President of Rapid City Hospital and Market. “I’m really thankful that we have such a dedicated group of volunteers. They are instrumental in helping us achieve our mission of making a difference – every day.”
The volunteer base includes individuals who give their time and talent by supporting patients, guests and caregivers in many areas of the hospital. “We are thankful for all our volunteers, who provide selfless service to others by serving in waiting rooms, our Gift Shop, Guest Services and Hospice, as well as visiting patients, sewing, and more,” said Konnie Sorensen, Manager of Volunteer Services. “Every Moment Makes a Difference” was the theme of the brunch where volunteers were honored for their hours served. In 2018, more than 320 volunteers contributed over 32,880 hours at Rapid City Hospital. Those volunteers who accumulated 250 hours receive a pin for their achievement. A charm to fasten to the pin is given for each 500 hours accumulated thereafter.
