Apr 12, 2019

RAPID CITY, S.D. –  Sylvia Cuka, Licensed Practical Nurse at the Regional Health Medical Clinic on Flormann Street in Rapid City, has received the prestigious DAISY Award. A national program, the award is presented to nurses who go above and beyond for their patients and community. She was nominated by a provider.
“Sylvia is the 'go-to' person in our clinic. Other nurses depend on her, and she often serves as their confidence-builder. Our patients know her well and have the deepest trust in her,” the provider wrote. “I doubt that I would still be practicing if it were not for our many faithful patients and wonderful caregivers, but most of all because of Sylvia, my confidant, my advisor, my right arm."
The DAISY Award recognizes the outstanding professionalism and compassion nurses bring to patients and families every day. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in California in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 of an autoimmune disease. DAISY is an acronym for “diseases attacking the immune system.”Nurses in Rapid City are selected 12 times a year for this recognition. Nurses are also honored in Custer, Lead-Deadwood, Spearfish and Sturgis. Visit to nominate.
