Regional Health Family Medicine Residency Clinic

Department of Regional Health Rapid City Hospital

The Regional Health Family Medicine Residency Clinic provides comprehensive care for the entire family in all phases of life, from childhood to senior years.

The Regional Health Family Medicine Residency Clinic can usually accommodate same day appointments and will arrange or assist in scheduling consultations with specialty physicians or out-of-clinic studies that need to be completed.  Staff can also help direct you to educational information, including area classes and support groups. If needed, language interpreters are available.

The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  If it is necessary to contact the clinic between visits, please call during office hours. It is very helpful to the nurse for you to have the following information available when you call:

  • What medications are you taking?
  • Do you have any allergies?
  • Do you have a fever?
  • What are your specific symptoms?

If you have an emergency or urgent situation, you might be referred to the Emergency Department.  After hours and on holidays, the clinic's answering service is available for your questions to be directed to the on-call physician.

Services include:

  • Care for acute and chronic medical problems
  • Care for expectant moms
  • Well-baby visits and immunizations
  • School sports physicals
  • Annual check-ups
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Cryosurgery
  • Colposcopy
  • Vasectomy
  • Laboratory evaluation
  • Radiographic imaging

What is a Residency?

After medical school, doctors who want to specialize in Family Medicine must complete a three-year residency program. Resident doctors at the Regional Health Family Medicine Residency Clinic work hand-in-hand with experienced family medicine physicians and other physician mentors, to provide quality health care to patients in both the clinic and hospital settings. The Family Medicine Residency Program has graduated more than 100 physicians resulting in improved health care throughout our region.

State Of-The-Art Facility

At the center of the training program is the Regional Health Family Medicine Residency Clinic. This state-of-the-art 24,000 square foot facility serves as the headquarters for our resident physicians and includes 16 exam rooms and a dedicated procedure room; medical records, laboratory and radiology services; spacious resident team offices; a beautiful library and conference room; and other administrative offices.
