The Rapid City Regional Hospital Auxiliary opened the Hospice House in September, 2007. Offering end-of-life care for patients in a comfortable, homelike setting, the house can accommodate 12 patients and their families.
Hospice House provides three levels of care.
Acute care: The Hospice House provides 24/7 skilled nursing care for patients who are rapidly declining or where the medical condition requires skilled care.
Respite care: A five-day stay is available under Medicare, Medicaid and some insurance to allow family members a respite from caregiving.
Residential care: If hospice care at home isn’t possible, Hospice House provides residential care.
