To ensure that we have the quality staff that we need to care for our patients in the future, Regional Health is committed to the education of current and future caregivers.  We provide accredited training and educational programs for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and technicians.

Physician Shadowing Program

Regional Health's Physician Shadowing Program takes place our community-based health care system of more than 40 health care facilities in western South Dakota. The shadowing experience coincides with Regional Health's purpose of helping patients and communities live well.

Our mission is to train physicians in Family Medicine who are able to provide comprehensive, longitudinal medical care in a rural setting.


The Rapid City Regional Hospital (RCRH) Medical Radiography Program (MRP) is a two-year, fully accredited certificate program that prepares participants for entry-level employment in the field of radiographic medical imaging.

Mission Statement

The RCRH MRP will provide and support excellence in diagnostic medical radiography education, developing skilled, compassionate, and caring professionals who will benefit and serve our communities.


Nursing Services Orientation (NSO)
This program, held twice per month at Rapid City Regional Hospital, follows Right Start and Caregiver Orientation to engage nurses (both new graduates and experienced RN's and LPN's who are new to Regional Health) in learning activities and hear from expert presenters and professional development specialists. 

Rapid City Regional Hospital (RCRH), located in Rapid City, S.D., is a nonprofit acute-care community hospital licensed for 415 beds. It is the largest hospital in a 350-mile radius and is a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, and is home to the state's busiest emergency department. RCRH is part of the Regional Health system, which is comprised of more than 40 health care facilities throughout Rapid City and the Black Hills region.

Clinical Laboratory Science Program

The Clinical Laboratory Science Program is located within the main Rapid City Regional Hospital laboratory complex, and provides an educational experience encompassing 52 weeks, with a full curriculum in all the major subject areas of clinical laboratory science. Affiliated colleges and universities honor this year of professional study as the senior year, and award a baccalaureate degree upon its completion.
