Here are a few of the meaningful responsibilities you will have when you join our team as a   Registered Nurse at Same Day Surgery Center: Plans, coordinates and provides peri-operative nursing care and supervision of all non-professional personnel. Registered Nurses are responsible for providing optimum care for patients of all ages, specific to diagnosis, and based on AORN and ASPAN Standards and in accordance with Rapid City Regional Hospital Policies and Procedures. Performs the technical procedures necessary for job responsibilities in a safe, effective, efficient, legal and professional manner. Is responsible for own education, personal growth and development. Utilizes nursing process. Is competent in patient assessment. Takes appropriate and timely action based on findings of assessment. Appropriately plans care with consideration of individual needs. Correctly administers and documents medications according to division and unit specific guidelines, as evidenced by chart review. Files Medication Variances as required. Demonstrates knowledge of standards, policies and procedures, and integrates knowledge into delivery of care. Performs nursing procedures and treatments according to nursing division and unit specific standards. Handles unanticipated events and crisis situations in a professional manner. Is alert to potential problems and notifies appropriate individual as necessary. Completes thorough, timely documentation in accordance with facility policy. Willing to assist in other roles to keep costs down and quality high. Supports process improvement by addressing situations that are of concern and following through with appropriate intervention. Introduces self to physicians/visitors/vendors. Plans case and care with entire team. Follows up and communicates to Nurse Manager any concerns including performance seen during the case if applicable. Performs interventions, skills, and procedures consistent with accepted standards of surgical practice, policies and procedures in the surgical suite. These include, but are not limited to: preparing the Room to include necessary supplies and equipment as indicated by the patient's status; providing appropriate safety and comfort measures to the patient; providing proper patient transfer and positioning; assuring maintenance of asepsis and sterile field; assuring well-being of patient including fluid balance and skin integrity; competency in equipment, supplies and their usage; investigating unfamiliar procedures, techniques, and medications; demonstrating organizational ability by using time, equipment, and personnel effectively; assuring minimal time loss between cases. Job To ensure patient safety and clinical quality, this role requires the following education, licensure, and experience: Graduate of accredited school of nursing South Dakota  Registered Nurse license BCLS & PALS ACLS within 6 months of hire We greatly value the following education, licensure, and experience (although only preferred ): Bachelor’s Degree in nursing Three years of surgical nursing
