Research Programs

Clinical research trials are research studies conducted with patients. Clinical trials are used to prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat a variety of conditions. They can also be used to study the psychological impact of different conditions and help to improve patient comfort and quality of life.

Following is a list of the Regional Health research groups.

Black Hills Cardiovascular Research promotes cardiovascular health by providing area physicians the infrastructure and opportunity to participate in clinical trials and develop local research and educational projects.

The physicians at the Cancer Care Institute are members of the North Central Cancer Treatment Group, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and the Gynecologic Oncology Group. These memberships, and our affiliations with other major study groups, give area patients the chance to participate in research funded by the National Cancer Institute. Additional clinical research trial opportunities are available through partnerships with major pharmaceutical companies.

Walking Forward Program provides comprehensive outreach, education to our communities, and facilitates screening services for breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancers. Walking Forward engages the American Indian communities to advocate cancer screening and healthy behaviors.
